Poker rocks

Gambling is legal in Michigan. I live in Michigan. It’s also legal in Windsor (Canada), which is about 45 min from my house. I pas two casinos on the way to Windsor. I’ve been to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. I’ve been known to gamble a bit at the casino.

I was also a person that never had an interest in poker, aside from playing twice with my grandparents for a few pennies. When the No-Limit Texas Hold ’em craze started, I wasn’t interested. Then I played a free game with some friends…no cash and I won. I played in a few house games…and won. I played in a few more house games…and won. Over all I ended up with my winnings being greater then my losses. When you gamble, that’s a good thing. I have a few of my own rules when I go to the casino about how much I’ll spend and only spending what I care to lose for “entertainment’s sake”. My first trip to the casino to play poker lasted almost 10 hours. My second trip 14 hours. I left only losing what I had wanted to play with.

Last weekend I thought it would be a good idea to go to the casino and play poker. Needless to say I forgot to contact my financial adviser about the investment I was about to make…I paid dearly. When it was all said and done I ended up being out more then I planed, playing on a table I didn’t want to play on and rushing myself and making terrible plays. I left after an hour and I was not in a good mood.

About an hour later I met up with some friends for a home game, because I needed to play more poker right? I ended up winning and almost winning the second game. 4 hours of poker later I knew what I needed to do…go back to the casino.

So this weekend I’ll be back at the green felt trying to win $8 billion [US] and failing miserably; while enjoying every minute of it.
