This made me feel good
As my mother would say, I’ve been sensitive to world issues since I was quite young. I just felt like I was too alone to make a difference and I didn’t know what to do. This email I read today made me feel like I was a part of something good, I could be a nameless face in a sea of people trying to do something to help…and all I needed was my voice, not my wallet.
If you haven’t checked out ONE, you ought to give a peek to their website. So far with the voice of millions in the world the leaders of the 8 richest countries pledged an additional $50 billion dollars ANNUALLY to help the poorest countries by 2010. More then 500 thousand people have been put on AIDS medication, and 1 million people with TB have been treated…AND basic schooling for every child.
I’d say that’s worthwhile! Your tax dollars at work on something globally useful and caring…for a change.
“Beating AIDS and extreme, stupid poverty, this is our moon shot. This is our generation’s civil rights struggle, our anti-apartheid movement. This is what the history books will remember our generation for — or blame us for, if we fail. We can’t afford to fail nor will we”
– Bono, snipped from ONE email
Year in review
I stole this from everyone on the net…and I thought it was fitting for me to do one of these because I’m not feeling creative. :) Besides, it might be more fun than 2004 in review.
1) Was 2005 a good year for you?
I think so. I got through some tough spots and had some fortunate events happen as well.
2) What was your favorite moment of the year?
Seeing my first grade posted after my first semester back at school…after 4 years. A close runner up is going to the MTV Movie awards, but school takes it.

A night that left me feeling terribly empty and sad in the morning.
4) Where were you when 2005 began?
A pimp-n-hoe party close to home.

Yes, with reading…and that’s about it.

Not really, but yes. That’s pretty straight forward.

Tons!

20) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2005?
Are you kidding me? I see too many movies. Let’s say Sin city!
21) What was your favorite song from 2005?
This might be impossible for me to answer so I’ll just go with a quick scan and pick…”Hello Lonely” by: Theory of a deadman. iTunes says my most played song of 2005 was “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey. I went through a phase hush.
22) What was your favorite record from 2005?
CRAP! Um…honestly, I think I have to go with Lazy Sunday’s Empty Song Space because I love that album and I have listened to it more than any other I own.

Yup.

$8,009,234.16 give or take a few pennies.
33) What was your proudest moment of 2005?
Everything related to school, fighting to get back in, registering for classes, getting above 3.5 (except this semester I might have missed that -whoops) and helping people in my classes.
34) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2005?
I wasn’t that embarrassed, but it makes a good story. It was a combo of the last seconds of 2004 and the first minutes of 2005. While people were counting down from 10 to ring in the new year I spun around and started shouting “Why is everyone counting?!!?!?” around 12:10-12:15 I jumped up randomly and shouted “It’s the New Year!!! It’s the New Year!!!” -my friends got a kick out of it.
35) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2005 and change something, what would it be?
Spent a little more time on my homework for one class this semester.
36) What are your plans for 2006?
Do just as good if not better in school. Write a book (already started). Keep enjoying life. :)
I cannot sleep
I feel minimal stress. I took my last final today, I only have a little holiday shopping and most of my projects are caught up at work. Yet here I am.
It’s early in the morning…even for someone who works standard business hours; that someone can’t sleep. I woke up just after 3:00 and felt wide awake; within 30 minutes I was drinking a glass of water, climbing back up to bed to tossing and turning some more -then I resorted to reading. An hour later I finished my book had some more water. Now I’m here.
I don’t know if it’s the relief of being finished with exams, a good grade on my paper or feeling like I aced my final exam tonight (err I mean last night) -something is on my mind. What? I don’t know…damn I hate nights like this.
ARGH!
Let’s just say the last 7 days went by slicker than snot. Between training at work and a last minute paper to write I’ve been out of it.
I’ll sum up how I feel with an excerpt from an email I wrote to a friend today…
I slept in a little today, but I slept like a rock last night and woke up feeling awesome…I was looking forward to work today (which is unusual) and I couldn’t wait to finish this project that has taken me months to get through…
Instead today I came up with 4 dead ends to 4 other projects and I haven’t even looked at the project I wanted to finish today.
On a positive note I have been listening to Stevie Wonder all afternoon…I’ve been listening since I want to carve my eyes out with paper clips I figured it might help to associate myself with a blind person, that way I wont actually do it. It’s tough to hold back.
Now I spent the last 30 minutes playing this game ACW was talking about: throw Paper in the trash.
I need a nap.
The Reunion
I can sum it up in three words: waste of money. Sure sure it was nice to see a few people, but out of 400+ graduating students less than 60 showed up and most of those were people I didn’t know or people I didn’t care about. The people I wanted to see, like the football players who thought they were cool then, but pick up trash on the highway now…yeah, they weren’t there. The people I wanted too see, like the people I called “friends”…yeah, they weren’t there.
If I wanted to gossip about anything all I have is one guy was married and living with his wife in his father-in-law’s garage. I didn’t catch why, so there could have been a valid reason to live in a garage of his wife’s father…in Michigan…in the beginning of winter…sure….there could have been a great reason.
Or I could talk about the guy who’s date looked like she walked out of a 1993 time machine, prom dress and hair. When asked if she was his wife, the response: oh no, I mean we live together, we’ve been dating for 3 years and have a few kids…but we’re taking it slow and easy; no marriage yet. Right…um…no comment.
All-in-all it was an uneventful party. Oh yea, except for the girl that kept dancing on the dance floor solo…spinning and then sitting on the floor next to the DJ booth after drinking too much. Yea, she was good entertainment.
