Lost in the pages of another book

But not lost in time

I got home from work last night and settled in to read a little more in Digital Fortress. I was only 40 some pages into the book and I already knew I would like it. Since I am reading the James Bramford book (well known non-fiction author and investigative journalist) on the NSA the two books tied in well for me. Different style of a Dan Brown book; this one has less tangible or reader participating puzzles; however, it is a true suspense/thriller. So I read from 6pm to 1am with a short break to have some dinner and talk with my roommate…I finished the book. So what? Well I have been reading fiction books as breaks between non-fiction and I read the damn book in one night! Now I have to start another one! :)

Why call it jealousy

When it’s really envy

Like most people I have a few pet peeves, but one thing that is hard for me to understand is deep nasty feelings towards people who loath others because of their good fortune. What am I talking about? Envy.

I should say that like most people I know, there are times in my life where I see someone famous or wealthy and I think “wow I wish I had that!” or “Man what would it be like to go out with a person like that!?” but I say it with an air of humor. While I might really think it would be fun to have a billion dollars or to be able to hang with the big guys, I’m not pissed about where I am at in my life. I feel comfortable saying that I think most people I know are in the same boat. However, there are those times with some people were their level of envy reaches a whole new plateau. Why?

When someone else has good fortune, why loath them? When someone else makes the right choices, why hate them for it? Some things will never make sense to me.

Where have I been

What have I been doing

So I think Thanksgiving had me drained of thought for a few days and then I just tumbled down the road of “I forgot my blog” like many folks do.

As previously mentioned I finished “Deception Point” and much to my chagrin this past weekend I finished “Lightning”. For anyone interested in fiction and some thriller-style with a sci-fi flare, I recommend “Lightning”. As for the other books on my list, I have only been reading an essay or a chapter every other day as it would ruin much of the content in the philosophy books…I’ll still finish them before the year is out. ;)

While I did just say that Thanksgiving drained me of thought, it’s actually a fib. I think I have had more insane ideas floating in my head recently then usual! Okay that might be a stretch too. :) The good news is I made note of the subjects so I’ll start ranting and back posting shortly…good news…because I know 4 million people are lining up to read my back posts…

Cheers
