I can be a jerk

But so can anyone

So today I saw a post on a local club/music board (that really is a poser haven now) about Texas being the “fattest state”, taking over for Michigan…more specifically Detroit. Drama ensued because someone didn’t like the ranking system or how the statistics are calculated; whatever. The point is that I couldn’t help myself so I had to respond to the insanity with an insane comment:

Support cannibalism!

Anyone 18+ more then 100lbs overweight gets chopped up and

– “healthy” edible parts sent to starving nations

– Fat used to create fuel for new cars that run on human fat

Children under 17 that are more then 50lbs overweight

– Parents charged with abuse

– Kids sent to fat camp

Sick and tired

Of being sick and tired

So if being hung-over like I never have before wasn’t enough of a bad sign to start the year off…how about getting the worst cold/flu that I have ever had? Oh did I mention that previous to that I had a nice little bought of insomnia to finish the year off? Damn I feel like a mess.

A few days before NYE I started having trouble sleeping at night. Thursday night was the worst, I got 4 hours of sleep in two 2 hour sessions. Friday was NYE and I took it easy during the day and partied like a rockstar with my roommate and friends…ala Pimp ‘n Ho theme party. After 5 drinks or so and 4 shots of tequila I was toast. Thankfully we stopped for grub on the way home or I would have been a lot worse off then I was, and I don’t even want to think about how worse that would have been.

I woke up around 10am NYD still feeling a buzz, but no hangover…yet. Then it was time to start screaming out random dinosaur names. If you don’t know what this is, think about screaming from the bottom of your stomach “Brontosaurus!”. Yes, it was pt [puke time]. For the next six hours (yes I said SIX) I wasn’t quite like a Swiss watch, but about every 30 to 45 minutes I crawled to the bathroom for another verbal assault on the Mesozic Era. I finally had the strength to try soup around 9 pm…I woke up around 11 am feeling just fine.

On my way home from work Tuesday I was a wreck; I was cold and shaking non stop. I got home and changed into some warmer clothes and jumped under my trusty polartec fleece blanket to get warm. Eventually I felt better, then I felt very weak…hot…sweaty. I felt like I had no energy and my body wanted to wave a white flag; I went into survival mode. I know, a little dramatic but something told me that this was not right. So I pulled out my camping gear, got the first aid kit and took my temp 102. I took some Motrin to reduce the fever, drank a lot of liquids, took a shower and went to bed.

I woke up soaked and felt just fine; go figure. I went through about the same routine just without the massive fever the next night…with one exception: I couldn’t sleep.

I woke up around 2 am for no reason. I ended up reading a little bit and the I got online and specked out 5 different configurations of a Mini Cooper. Colors, ultra sports package, no package, financing vs. lease…the list goes on. Eventually I got tired of looking at the computer and put it away. I still couldn’t stop thinking about things I wanted to take care of today…bills, tasks at work, unanswered emails…books…eventually in the mess that was my mind I fell asleep.

What a rollercoaster of a few days 2005 is turning out to be.

The end of 2004

A Year in review

What happed to the year? I know a few people that have said every year you get older it seems like time goes by just that much faster. The years just seem to be flying by…

It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago I got to cross one thing off my life wish list: I was in New York for NYE. I bought a one way plane ticket to NY -my favorite city- and I was off to see my good friend in the Bronx. Before I knew it time had passed and we were screaming “HAPPY NEW YEAR!!”. Just a day or two later (hell I can’t remember if it was one or two days, besides it doesn’t change the story!) I used my one way train ticket to hoe a train to Syracuse. Why? To see a Michigan State vs. Syracuse basketball game and to hang out with a few new friends. A few days later we drove home…9 hours. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

I made one personal resolution in 2004 that I remember, it was a carryover from 2003…I had to talk to my parents about something. During the spring of 2004 I completed it.

I rode in the Make-A-Wish 300 mile bike ride for the third year. It’s a 300 mile bike ride that raises money for Make-A-Wish; an organization that grants wishes for kids with life threatening illnesses. I got one of my friends to ride in it and I joined up with a few friends I had met previous years. Total money raised $1600 for me, $602,000 for the event. Next year I will have to miss the event for a wedding, but I’ll be back in 2006 with more friends to ride in a team (I hope).

Starting in December of 2003 I started reading one book just to start myself reading…I tried reading 20-30 min a night and eventually I created a habit. I was preparing myself for returning to school, this time I would keep up on things; specifically: reading. In 2004 I read between 20 and 25 books…most of them from the summer on through December the month when I read about 2 books a week.

I started what I wanted for many years: a blog. Why? I have no idea. Maybe because I think way too much and I thought it was a good release of ideas and thoughts. I like to ask questions that don’t always have an answer. I created a CSS design that was just what I wanted…I learned CSS as I went along. :)

My birthday came and went. Thanksgiving seemed like a day later and before I knew it, it was Christmas. NYE was here…the end of another year.

What was 2004? A lot of little things, not too many big things…for most people it was just another year. For me it was a good year. I just hope next year it’s even better.

And talking to Santa

My sister showed me the note my nephew wrote for a class assignment. I love it and I am sure you will to.

Dear Santa,

I would like to be your new elf because I’m only 9 and I’m just a kid so I’d probably be small enough for an elf. I also want to because I’ve always wanted to meet Santa, “the Big Cheese.” I would also want to be your messenger because I wouldn’t be good at making toys. But, I could if you taught me for a long time. If you did, I would want a lunch and a bathroom break every 10 minutes
